About

Who on earth is Voet, you ask? Precisely.

He’s a Dutch jurist who wrote a book called Commentary on the Pandects, and this book is a source of South African law. But if you’re not paging through property law he’s probably not going to pop up too often, so don’t you worry about him.

Here’s the point.

I am a law student. I am not fancy or pretentious because, let’s be serious, I just don’t know enough. I get caught up in legalese just like every other PhDless person out there.

It annoys me. I want to try to make South African law more accessible. I am going to research and write about issues that affect me; that affect you.

And I’m going to keep it as short and sweet as possible (with footnotes for those who are itching for some depth).

I hope you enjoy reading it. Please understand however that this is not legal advice.
